"An understanding of the natural world and what's in it is a source of not only a great curiosity but great fulfillment" - Sir David Attenborough
About
Since I was a child, I have always loved animals. I was always looking under rocks, exploring streams and creeks and climbing trees. The moment I knew I was destined to be an ecologist was the day I was picked from a crowd to have a barn owl land on my hand and rip open a mouse. I was hooked.
So I went on to university and studied a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts with a major in Biology and Communications. I discovered that research, mainly answering my own questions about nature, was my one big passion so I started an Honours project on a threatened bird species, the Grey-crowned Babbler in Dubbo. I then gained some experience with an environmental consulting company working with the same species at a mine site and discovered that I wanted to continue my own research. So I spent the next two years preparing myself for a PhD project. Five years later I have now been accepted for a Doctorate and I am working on various ecological projects that people can use to benefit the environment. I also developed a love of snakes and spend a lot of time educating the public during rescue and releases.
My interests now lie in behavioural ecology in an applied setting.
